EDIT | The Driving Shoe

I have ruined so many pairs of boots and shoes because I have been silly enough to wear my favourite shoes whilst driving which has resulted in me (literally) paying for my stupidity and stubborness more times than I care to count and I've now decided that I need to I need to invest in a pair (or three)of driving shoes.
[First Row] Asos, [Second Row] TOD's, [Third Row] Russell & Bromley

I always saw driving shoes as the type of shoes I wore to school or footwear for the seniors, but necessity and this selection-especially the TOD's-have shown me otherwise.

MODÈLISTE | How To Repair Your Jeans

If your thighs are a little on the thick side like mine and you're handy with a sewing machine, this tutorial is probably a life saver because I go through jeans like crazy.

EDIT | American Apparel

My love affair with American Apparel just wont end, and with the British weather finally warming up at long last (I think-lets see if it doesn't rain in the morning), my list of items to add to my spring wardrobe keeps on growing.

So for the past couple of weeks, I've been visiting NARS Cosmetics UK HQ to help create a look using a product from their upcoming collection that would compliment my own collection for their national conference. It finished with 3 other designers and I showcasing our collections with a make up look designed for each of our collections.

I didn't have the chance to take many pictures as it was extremely busy but there was a photographer on hand, so when I receive the pictures taken by him I will post them up (providing I look decent in them).

MODÈLISTE | The coat

I've banned myself from shopping.

Not completely, but I decided that I needed to cut down on the amount of clothes I purchased and to make sure that when I did make a purchase, it's a good quality one. I always ask myself "do I need it?" and "can I make it myself?", I mean as a designer, it makes sense that I wear my own creations regularly (several encounters have taught me lesson or two).

So with that in mind, a couple of months ago when the weather went from cold to freezing I decided my battered biker jacket was no longer cutting it and I had to make a coat.

001|

So yes, I’ve started another blog.

Again.

I considered revamping Strut Mode but I just couldn’t work with that blog anymore. I didn’t blog for over a month, not because I was too busy but because I stopped caring about it. Pretty much, every other day I would think about the blog and updating it felt like an absolute chore. I then started to question whether I still liked blogs, blogging, and the blogosphere. I hadn’t even touched my bloglovin’ reading list in about 2 months (and I’m so precious about my blog reading so that was a big deal) and I finally realised that I simply got bored, and needed to focus my blog on what I actually do so that I don’t struggle to find content to post.

I was really attached to my previous blog name (Strut Mode), but a very similar name is being used on another fashion related blog which was irksome but sometimes you just need a fresh start (though the name lives on through my tumblr and another form which you will find out about one day), and as a pattern cutter/designer I think ‘Modéliste’ is very fitting.
